Description
Cheese Steak Casserole blends the bold, savory flavors of Philly cheesesteaks with the comfort of a baked casserole. With ground beef, onions, peppers, and a cheesy sauce layered over pasta or low-carb alternatives, it’s a satisfying and easy-to-make family meal.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1½ pounds ground beef or thinly sliced sirloin steak
- 12 ounces pasta (or low-carb substitute like zucchini noodles)
- 1 white onion, sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, sliced
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup cream cheese
- ¼ cup half-and-half
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: sliced mushrooms, diced jalapeños
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Cook pasta until al dente, drain, and set aside.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef or steak until browned. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, sauté onion and bell pepper (and optional mushrooms) until tender.
- Return meat to skillet and stir in cream cheese and half-and-half until melted and creamy. Season with salt and pepper.
- Combine cooked pasta with meat mixture. Pour into prepared baking dish and top with cheddar and mozzarella cheese.
- Bake uncovered for 25–30 minutes until bubbly and golden. Broil 1–2 minutes if desired for extra browning.
- Let rest 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh herbs if desired.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container for 3–5 days. Reheat in the oven or microwave. For a low-carb version, use zucchini noodles or cauliflower rice. Add jalapeños for a spicy twist, or mushrooms for an earthy depth. Serve with a side salad or roasted vegetables.
